ORGANIZATION HIGHLIGHTS:
Horse Therapy Centre of Canada provides Equine Assisted Therapy (horse therapy) and Equine Assisted Learning Programs to a wide demographic of clients. We are currently seeking three (3) youth volunteers ages 15-18 to aid in the execution of our group programs.
VOLUNTEER POSITION SUMMARY:
Within the context of a client and family-centered care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and vision and values of the organization, volunteers provide assistance in performing services for youth, adults and families including psycho-educational programs to individuals, groups and families. Assists in the facilitation of psycho-educational group learning programs for youth, adults and families; establishes trust with clients and engages them at their level of readiness for change. Collaborates and consults with colleagues and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Brings hands-on equine experience to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Two (2) years’ recent, related experience with the handling and direct care of horses.
- Ability to work independently on tasks and assignments
- Comprehensive knowledge of Equine handling and care.
- Comprehensive experience with Equine animals.
- Assists in pre-event preparation (set-up, paper work, planning, horse grooming, ect.)
- Assists in delivering pre-developed programs in individual and group settings, at our Equine Therapy and Wellness Centre.
- Care for equine partner before and after programs and sessions (feed, water, pick stalls, groom, and exercise included).
